PET MEMORIAL BRIDGE PROJECT

The Juniata River Valley Chamber of Commerce Leadership Institute has been a local staple in the Juniata Valley since 2019. Each year the students at the institute develop a community project to work on that adds beauty, value, and a sense of community spirit to Mifflin and Juniata Counties.

This year’s class has developed a beautiful idea to memorialize the loved ones we have lost: our pets.

Pets aren’t just animals, they are a loving addition to our families; providing entertainment, companionship, unconditional love, and even medical assistance to those who need it. Pets are truly remarkable, and we wanted a way to pay our respects to the pets that have crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

Our plan is to construct a Pet Memorial Bridge at Kish Park. Visitors can bring a collar, photo, or some other small memento of their lost loved one and add it to the bridge. The bridge will be beautifully adorned with the colors of the rainbow, to indicate that the pet has crossed the Rainbow Bridge and will be landscaped to match the tranquil sounds of Kish Creek that flows nearby.

We are looking for donations of time, money, and materials to help us bring this project to fruition. We are asking that you consider contributing to this heart-warming project.

If you’ve ever had to experience the heartache of losing a beloved pet or had to comfort your son or daughter as they’ve dealt with the painful loss of their furry friend, then you know just how much this project will mean to the community.
